forwarding ports on university connection

Wondered if anyone knew how i can forward my ports of my internet in halls at uni.
All my friends seems to be able to download torrents whereas i cant and would quite like to,

if its a Uni connection, you'll have to speak to the IT desk. Good luck getting them to forward ports though - I'd be extremely surprised if they did!

Are you sure its not a firewall issue on your PC?

im sure if you explain that you want to download pron through your favourite p2p software they will be very understanding
