This is a post regarding the difficulty settings.

I realise you can alter different factors of the game via "assists" but to keep It simple I will say the following:

I cant keep up or win races on medium difficulty but if i switch to easy i win by a very long shot.

so.... for a while i thought this game is pretty floored to me but then i looked at it a different way. i would play it on easy but just try to beat my laptime each time around.

Is this game more about getting the best lap time than actualy comming first in a race ?

It's about both... you get more money for coming first then second, you get more money for selecting harder AI then selecting easy..

I'd say it's about money, and getting more of it!

I think 'you' have to set the level of challenge, you could finish SP by setting the AI to easy, and hiring the cheapest driver for each race, so completing it all without ever racing yourself...
Or you could set the AI to hard, all assists off, realistic damage etc, and try and beat the AI by coming first, a very big challenge at times!

Obviously, racing against other people is where it's all at, and in that context, 2nd is the first loser :)

Seriously, look at any FPS game of modern times, you can set the difficulty to 'harsh language will kill all' and just stroll through it all unabated... or set it to 'heroic/legendary/etc' and prepare for hours and hours of frustration..

I'm similar, I tend to win fairly easily on medium but hard is just a bit too much (only ABS on). I need a setting between the two to be a challenge but not over whelming.

I'd prefer better grading of the AI

why not take ABS off aswell? Game feels so much better with all assist off

I tried that, but I just couldn't get used to it, really struggled to drive without it

Indeed.. I race on Hard AI, and still prefer ABS, for me, it's just how they've done the brakes, the first 25% of travel (especially on the wheel) is max brake pressure, it's quite a pain, especially since Race Pro and others do a much more controllable full range braking control affair!
