Now this is just a thought.
When the Prey demo came out there was general dismay at the quality of the textures / graphics. It later came out, and was confirmed by a couple of developers that the textures were greatly compressed for the downloadable demo and this was the cause of the game not looking that great.
When the game came out the textures / graphics were much improved and I'm sure Nokkon and others will agree it really did look quite splendid. The textures were all sharp and it was if we were finally playing a game that was designed for HD rather than one that was built 640x480 and upscaled.
I've just finished a quick blast of Halo 3 and whilst I was disappointed by the general graphical quality my first thoughts went back to Prey.
Could it be that both in Halo 3 and Forza 2 we're just seeing the results of highly compressed textures and maybe a few other bells and whistles disabled to keep the download size small.
For Halo 3 the textures looked a little 'pixelated' which would be indicative of high compression and for for Forza 2 if the car textures are heavily compressed could that be effecting how they 'fit' and subsequent 'jaggies'.
Thoughts anyone?
