Hi

I downloaded the Forza 2 demo... What an awesome experience, I've had more fun just trying to improve my lap times than I have with some games.. Can't wait for the full version.

Unfortunately I'm not particularly good at it (want to improve) and don't know a thing about cars.... Maybe someone could answer some of my questions to give me a few tips?.... I play with a pad and have all aids turned off with manual transmission.

1) I seem to be able to get better lap times with automatic as oppose to manual gears... How do I determine the optimum revs at which to shift up a gear?

2) Should I have completed all my braking before turning in to a bend? Likewise should I have shifted down in to the correct gear for the bend before turning the wheel?

3) While turning in to a bend I try to keep the throttle partially pressed down to maintain the speed within the bend.... I then try to accelerate out of the bend but obviously without screeching the tires... Is this the right idea?

Any other tips people can give me will be appreciated!

I normally chage right at the top of the rev range so just as it hits the red line, though you may want to change before then.

Yup, all breaking and gear changes should be done before a turn so you can concentrate on accelerating round the bend.

See above, don't let up on the throttle while turning, try and keep it steady before blasting out the corner. Don't worry about tires screeching.

You need to think about the weight of the car and how it shifts around on accelerating, braking and steering. For instance when you're braking the weight shifts to the front of the car and since those are the wheels that steer then the extra weight can help them "dig in" to the turn.

When you're learning corners remember: slow in, fast out :)

Practice, practice practice.

But yeah, slow in the corners keep to the inside as much as possible and don't floor it as soon as your out espically if TC is off, as you will just wheel spin everywhere.

I'm looking for help on how to get a decent launch, just can't seem to do it!

Good thread, I'm absolutely useless at driving in Forza 2. Will give it a go again later.

There's a few videos on our site which show folk driving their hot laps. I've picked up a few tips from them. Trick seems to try and be smooth on the gas.
