Found 14 year old nephew on porn website at parents house

Here's an interesting thing that just happened, I have a 14 year old nephew who visits my parents house quite often. I have a remote PC connection to their house and I don't know why, but I had to get on their PC a few moments ago. As it connected, pornhub or some other website was visible.

I opened up notepad and told him I'll be having words with him, but mainly because those websites downloading viruses and so on to the machine that I maintain (for free!).

As most of you are parents, would you like to know about this if it were your kid or shall I be the 'cool uncle' and keep it between me and him? The first thing I will be doing next time I'm round there, is accessing the router and banning that kind of activity.

Thoughts?

Be the cool uncle and leave it be. At 14 it's pretty normal behaviour. Don't ban it on the router either.

At 14 it is certainly natural for him to be seeking that kind of material on the Internet.

I certainly wouldn't be banning that kind of content on your parents PC (who knows what your Dad likes to look at

), but certainly have a quiet word to him about how to be safe when online.

My dad always said to me that if I wasn't trying to look at porn at 14, he would have been worried about me.

Agreed. When I was that age I was downloading porn on dial-up (or trying to anyway). Just have a word with him to make sure he understands the difference between porn and reality.

be the cool uncle. he's 14 and the hormones are raging within him. He shouldn't have been using your parents pc but apart from that he's just a normal 14yr old fap machine. The fact you've scared the **** out of him by catching him will be enough to make sure he doesn't do it again. Well not at your parents house anyway.

file it and use the ammo to embarrass him at a future family event!

Hey guys, thanks for your comments, on the strength of them and my own logic I gave him a ring. I asked him to go to another room first, and said it'll stay between me and him (although I'll have to rib him about it at some point!), I just said he's not doing that on grandparents computer and pretty much repeated what I said in the original notepad view. He was quite humble...don't see that in a teenager these days, woo ha haaaa.

I'll be giving him some advice about Ubuntu soon, because they don't have the money for an Apple Mac

It was quite funny though, bless him - while I was logged into the computer, which is obvious because I have priority over mouse/keyboard, he still proceeded to attempt a history deletion.

Also, grandparents don't look at porn, so no worries there with banning it

In fact, i know this really bad, but when my brother hit 13, I was already 26. I noticed he was using the family laptop to search for porn.

I knew it was normal, I did it. So rather than have the machine full of viruses, I just gave him a few sites that I knew were straight up virus free porn, with no dodgy stuff, like kids, rape and all that crap. He's turned out absolutely fine.
