Found lost phone

I found a lost phone tonight just laying on the ground. Most likely belonging to a chav (msgs + porn subs). What would you do?
 
Find out who it belongs to and give it back. (yes, I really would.)
Chav or not, I know how much aggro it can be to lose a phone. I've been lucky and had them returned by the finder, and will always do the same.
 
Look through the contacts and most of the time there would be an entry for Home, Mum or dad and call them saying that you have found a phone belonging to their son or daughter's phone, then leave your details with them.
 
If it has a 'Home' number or an obvious family member then you could perhaps try contacting that?
 
I've done this in the past too. I checked the address book and texted the number saying brother or mom or something. I got a phone call the next day and organised for the person to pick it up.

Considering I had found their phone in the middle of the road where it would like as not have got smashed they were pretty ungrateful for me bringing it too them.
 
Yeah just check for a home number, or a relative in the phonebook section. Or just see who me texts most and send one to them explaining the situation.

You mean actually walk all the way to a police station (I have no car) when they will have better things to do?
 
Im suprised that people don't have their information on their phone so they can be contacted if this happens. My pda/phone has the owner information on the today screen as soon as its turned on.

Agreed. The wisest thing to do would be to phone the parents to pick it up for him or tell them that you will post it through there letterbox if they agree.

Love the fact that a) you've already decided it's a chav and b) you're so much of a pussy you're too scared to give them their phone back :p

a) You don't have to be a genius from looking at the msgs.

b) Theres no way I'm meeting a complete stranger, when it is probable he will have a load of mates ready to jump me.

Ok, I'll allow you the first one as I haven't read the messages and you may be right although it does sound rather judgemental.

However for the second point, what makes you think that you will be jumped just for handing back a phone? You are doing them a favour and you are hardly likely to have stolen it only to hand it back so I don't see what you have to worry about here. If you don't want to meet whoevers phone it is then just pop it into the police station next time you go anywhere near.

Drop it at the police station. They will get it back to the owner and the owner will get the added embarresment of having the rude stuff on the phone commented on by the police.
Who knows the chav getting the phone back may be taught a lesson that if someone does a good turn for them, maybe they shouldnt smash the old dears windows up from down the lane.
