This problem has been going on since last year when I plugged in a Logitech G15 keyboard. Due to a fault I had to send it back, but ever since then, every time I boot up Vista 64 the popup of 'Found New Hardware' comes up. Any option I use results in nothing being installed and ignore this device doesn't work as once I reboot it starts the process all over again.

When I had the G15 I installed the drivers / software that came with it, then removed them via the usual Programs and Features control panel.

I've just been hitting the red 'X' on every boot since then, but it would be nice to get rid of it for good. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Can't you check the "do not ask about the again" check box? Can't remember where it pops up but it's on the "new hardware detected" wizard

Does it even give any indication of what type of device it might be? How does device manager look? Any objections to just doing a clean build?

Nup, just 'Unknown Device'.

Anything popping up on the event viewer around the time the prompt comes up? Might also give you a clue.

Nothing stands out no.

Guess I could have a clean up & format over the weekend as it's been over a year and my HDD is a bit cluttered.

Before doing that I'd be tempted to update the chipset drivers and any other drives I could get for your motherboard, it can sometimes resolve random hardware detections like this where it's some daft thing on the board that needs an obscure driver.
