This popped up on my GoG front page and looks quite appealing. Has anyone played it? It's just launched into Early Access, and costs £26.99 (which I feel is taking the ****) but looks interesting with "gridless" building and supply chain management being the key themes. No combat (like... er... Anno?) and no traffic management (like Cities Skylines).

Anyone played it?

Resurrecting this from last year....

I have played it. Spent about 5 hours on it yesterday. It is still in Alpha and whilst the core game works there are bits (mainly the menus and in game text) that needs work.

The basic premise is about trade; selecting the right buildings and quests etc. No combat on screen or even off screen with other communities (just sending soldiers off to the King's wars for gold).

I was looking for something like Settlers and this seems to tick the boxes. Sedate, not too taxing but holds your interest. The visuals are engaging. I can see myself losing much more time to this over the next few weeks..

I pass on nearly all these city builders.

they aren't games imo its a tiny very restrictive sandbox that gets boring very fast over and over.

the only thing that ever changes in these games is the graphics and time period.

everything else is exactly the same as every other banished type game

they never add combat 90% of the time so all you do is build some buildings, assign your guys jobs.

woo a little town that does bugger all but keep itself alive, oh look can we survive the winter...

They are never a proper gamne, I bet they end up being less than 10% of what the developer envisioned at the time, but early access and monies a calling.

theres like 5 of these games that are coming out or already in early access.

the egypt one or maybe even 2?
this
the stone age game, the russian style game, the soviet workers game (which is probably one of the most fleshed out city builders coming up and still lacking content imo)

They must be terribly simple under the hood I used to love these types of games but they never feel complete.

give me a game where you build a town and actually go to war vs other towns and conquer a map or actually have some use for the people other than keeping them alive.

like anno 1800 great city building game, still had other things to do than just build a city for the sake of it.

if people want to make some awesome nostalgia games why don't they remake something like populous , tv sports boxing. it came from the desert , modern or some of the other amiga classics we never see games like anymore
