Founders edition, what to expect?

I did some research and what I know is a founders edition is the first GPU which is made, so no lights and extra fans etc. If I was to secure a founders edition 3070 what should I expect exactly. Would it be something I should use myself for heavy gaming or would it be something I should sell?

My 980ti died last week and I put together a new PC at the worst possible time ever due to GPU stock. I think I managed to secure a 3070 founders edition, how good is this GPU exactly?

Thanks.

The Founders Editions of today are essentially just Nvidia built cards, the quality is very high and honestly they're often better quality than a lot of the other options.

If you can get your hands on a founders 3070 just keep and use it for yourself, they're fantastic bits of kit.

They do have lights.
The RTX from my card actually gets projected on to the wall opposite it (my case is glass side facing the wall).

Thanks. I've had a very interesting morning. I woke up and got a notification for the 3070. I managed to secure it. Immediately after the 3090 popped up, I got all the way to checkout but it's 1 30series per household. I can't believe it, I feel physically sick lol.
I will keep the 3070 FE. I'll look at benchmarks vs the my old 980ti and just be happy!

The RTX 3070FE and below, so basically 3060Ti do not have lightening.

The build quality on FE is immaculate, founders used to mean blower, term now really means Nvidia cards and the build quality is exceptional, better then AIB plastic monster truth be told. Cooling is also pretty solid (3090FE is very good), if you got one at MSRP and had a 980Ti die last week, you could not have asked for better luck. If you sell it now, you can't easily get another FE as one per household and after that AIB's are sky high anyways, would not even be able to get AIB 3060Tis for 3070FE price easily.

3070FE will put your 980Ti in to the ground in terms of performance, more so as resolution scales, would be very happy in your shoes tbh :)

Forgive me for being suspicious but in the current forum climate I find this a bit of an odd question.

If your 980ti just died and you say you managed to get a 3070FE why would you be asking should I sell it.

Scalper newbie thoughts perhaps?

Not at all. I'm just a very anxious person and I'm kind of thinking that I secured it because it's not a good gpu or something, I don't believe I have this type of luck. I work over 50 hours a week and I just woke up this morning and managed to secure one. Seems too good to be true so I'm questioning everything, forgive me. :(

You're just very lucky, the FE cards are very sought after.

I've even seen people offering straight up swaps from their MSI/Gigabyte/etc cards a few times.
