I was searching for a FOV fix for Space Marines the other week, it felt like I was playing with my face against the monitor and just didn't feel right.

I came across this interesting video outlining the reasons for such low FOV's on console games and why PC ports can often leave the PC games feeling dizzy.

interesting !

fov and mouse acceleration (off) options are becoming more common now. Thank God; can't believe it's taken so long for devs to cop on.

its probably the main cause of motion sickness for gamers, it should really be something set outside the games so the fov is correct for everything you run. Something which asks your monitors aspect ratio and distance from screen and it could give you the correct vertical and horizontal field of vision.

Interesting video, although I already understood the concept.

What do you all set your FOV to? I use a 32" screen which is about 2ft in front of me. I usually set the FOV to about 85.

deus ex hr had a fov option and bf3 i think?

It was funny testing the fov option on deus ex hr. When I play at pc I increase fov when i put on big screen and play on bed I reduce fov.

Online gaming a bigger fov is an advantage right? well u see more but also things further away look smaller on your screen is a negative?

Interesting stuff, just assumed the thread would be more about things like Rayman 2 being completely different on the playstation to the n64 and dreamcast...

Head might be in a different place right now

Interesting, it's not something thats ever bothered me, so i've never looked into it or understood why people complain about it.

I'll certainly have a play around the next time i see FOV the option.

I notice in fps games, higher fov gives you a faster perceived run speed.

I increase the fov not only to see more but also for the perceived speed.

I'm using a 24" screen a little under 2' away and 85 seems to be the sweet spot for me. I'd have thought you'd be better off with 90-95...

I use a FoV of between 80-90. MW3 is by the worst port for the PC and makes me dizzy/feel sick when I use to play it because I couldn't change the FoV.

is there a fov fix for space marine? it does feel really narrow sometimes :(

nope, your forced to play at the consoles FOV of 60 and it's the first game that I've not really enjoyed purely because of this reason.

I should have know our Neil79 would have, at some point, already posted this :p

I prefer an FOV of 85-90 on my 24" however for Tribes and Tribes 2 I used to set it at 105+
