Went past this last night, SAT nav always warns of a RLC there but it never dawned on me it would be in front. Went over on amber definetly but not sure if this camera does speed? though i'm pretty sure i was way under 30. If it did go off would i see a flash at night? (i.e is it one of those fancy infra red cameras i.e truvelo?) Just curious as i'm 100% sure i'm ok just never seen a foward facing redlight camera! From what i see on the net they seem to be 'Peek' brand cameras. http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/peek.htm Ta for replies.

I am 100% sure i'm ok as i didn't run a red. Just trying to find out about what camera this is and if it checks speed/ flashes etc.. as i've never come across a foward facing RLC and i do a fair bit of driving around the country :)

Thanks for the replies but.. does anyone know if these flash? :D It looks like a peek camera and i haven't found any evidence that they have an infra flash or magenta filter (does not look like it anyhow, both holes look clear). My knowledge on the subject is that its not legal or type approved to flash foward facing? or are the authorities being hypocrites by disregarding the law? Also if it does speed, theres no lines on the road? I know i'm fine and did not blow a red or speed through it, so not worried, just curious.

Confirmed it with a traffic officer mate of mine via email, he reckons that the camera is facing the wrong way and might be vandalised as its an older peek camera and not type approved for foward facing pictures as it has no filter etc.. the strips or whatever will not be present on the side approaching its current position so it will go off if someone runs a red on the monitored side but will take a picture of the oncoming road only and at best the side of the offending car which is pointless. He also mentioned to me that the camera dosen't have the lights in view when taking a picture so even less proof or an actual red light run.
