Hi there,

Not long built a new system with the following spec: -

- Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB)
- Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
- Coolermaster CM-690 Dominator case
- Foxconn P35AP-S Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3
- Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Asus ATI Radeon HD 3650 256MB
- Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200S 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (
- Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
- Hiper 530w HPU-4M530 SLi Certified ATX 2.2 PSU

Deeply irritating problem.

I'm using a Microsoft Wireless USB keyboard. Whenever I start the machine I get the "No Keyboard Present" error message. It takes quite a number of resets (sometimes 10+) to get the damned thing to recognise it's there and boot. Once it had booted into Windows, all is well and both keyboard and mouse work well.

This happens no matter what USB keyboard I use, and even when I use a PS/2 adapter as well. I've gone through every BIOS option (and even flashed it with an updated one) and still the problem remains.

It seems that it's not just the keyboard either, any plugged in USB flash drives whose LED's are lit when plugged in, for example, also don't appear to work when this happens.

It makes no difference if only the keyboard is plugged in (in any port) or a load of stuff is in - same thing.

Any thoughts? I'm tearing my hair out at this!

Thanks,

10x...

I think... well its worth a try either way, you need to set legacy support on in the BIOS to enable this, although I have a mate who has a wireless USB keyboard and in the end i had to get a PS2 connected keyboard to be able to use it in BIOS... or get into BIOS for that matter.

Legacy USB support is enabled in BIOS. I have no idea what's wrong here and I'm fast running out of patience.

Could it be a faulty motherboard?
