Foxconn P35AX-S seems DOA.

I changed my motherboard from an ECS P4M890T-M (crap, that's why I was upgrading it) to a Foxconn P35AX-S (which was cheap, but seemed a damn sight better than my current board). Upon powering the machine built around the board, it didn't POST, it just spammed beeps at me. Quite alarmed I turned the machine off. I did the obvious things, removed most of the non-essential items such as a stick of memory, the optical drive and my hard disk, same spam of beeps POST code again.

I've tried removing pretty much every item from the board except the CPU, and the same problem occurs, I even tried reseating the CPU, three times.

I've rebuilt the machine back up using my old board, and everything's peachy.

Would I be right to assume a RMA is in order?

So it might've been improperly seated memory?

I find this curious as it was (or at least seemed!) clipped in properly and the same memory has been working fine for ages with the other motherboard... I'll give it another go and report back in a bit.

Edit: Just had me thinking that it might be incompatible memory... That'd be even worse. Good thing I have some other RAM to test it with, wish I'd thought of that.

'Kay, I tested it with some other memory, it seemed to work for a while, then I left it for a little bit and came back... Now whenever I turn the computer on with that motherboard it turns on very suddenly and turns off straight away. There's a faint buzzing/squealing noise and all that really happens is the (what I think is) onboard sound chip just gets really hot.

The rest of my system specs are as follows:

pentium dual core E2140
Qimonda PC-4200 CL4 2GB DDR2
And what I tested with when it temporarily worked:
Kingston PC-5300 CL5 512MB DDR2
PSU is an OCZ StealthXStream 500W.
8800 GTS 320 video card.

This board is really trying my patience and it would've killed them to have described the BIOS POST codes in the manual would it?

Cheers for the help, though.
