Hello guys,

I am completley new to Overclocking so my apologies if it takes me a while to get what you are saying. Basically I want to start off with a nice moderate overclock and eventually crank it up to 4GHz once my confidence and knowledge grows somewhat, its just hard getting started I feel. The board comes with its own Overclocking utility called "Fox One" which seems to be all I can use.

In another post DragonQ gave me a few things to try through the Bios but it seems im restricted, Most options are greyed out, basically out of the four points DragonQ advised me of all I could do from the Bios was change the QPI frequency.

Here are some screen shots of Fox One so you guys can see what settings I can change.

My specs are as follows:

  • Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem)
  • XFX Radeon HD 4870 xXx 1024MB GDDR5
  • Foxconn Renaissance DDR3 Motherboard
  • Antec 900-2
  • Coolermaster Real Power 620w Modular Power Supply
  • OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9
  • Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler

Thanks for all your help in advance guys, any explanations as to what settings and why would be really helpfull.

Thanks!

Bios clocking is the way forward :) There is probably a key you need to hit to unlock the other options. Take a little read here. You need to set the "CPU frequency setting" To Manual then either change the number with entering a new number in or pressing either + or - to raise and lower it by the looks of it.

i saw this board out of the box, put 1.6 through the cpu

it got a little toasty

not sure if they have fixed this now

Right so changing that number under the cpu frequency is that the same as the BLCK?

Thank you so much guys, am having a good read now... Hopefully will manage to get a decent overclock without blowing myself up now! :)
