So after some investigation I decided to plop for the Acer Predator XB271HU which I uboxed the other evening and have a query about....

What FPS should I be aiming for to take advantage of the 144hz and G Sync? Naturally with a new rig/gfx card (GTX 1080/See Sig), I simply turned everything up to 11 and sampled some of the regular games that I play (Overwatch, Wildlands, Division, BF1, Company of Heroes 2, etc).

Now I had the FPS display on and never did I match or surpass the 144hz of the monitor and to be honest I didn't get the 'OMGWTFBBQ Awesomesauce' response that I thought I would have upon purchase. Don't get me wrong, the improvement in graphic settings is a vast improvement (from the GTX 1080), however, I didn't experience the 'buttery smoothness' that seems to be the catchphrase when describing G Sync in action.

It's a nice monitor but I can't help but feel that I am missing something.... Am I supposed to be lowering the gfx settings of games to improve FPS to make it match or be higher than the 144hz of the monitor?

Just a quick set of pointers:

- Using Default 'Out The Box' settings currently for monitor
- Installed latest GeForce Experience and Drivers for GTX 1080
- Nvidia Control Panel confirm G Sync is enabled
- Monitor OSD confirm G Sync is enabled
- V Sync is turned off within all games
- Playing at the native resolution (not windowed/borderless window)

If anyone could kindly suggest any pointers as to what I should do to maximise the enjoyment of the monitor for as it stands, however nice it is (coming from a £120 24" BenQ TN 60hz Monitor!), I'm not sure if it was worth the premium over other 27" 144hz monitors?

Thank you in advance :)
