FPS decrease when moving to larger resolutions, is there a linear relationship?

Hi all i'm intrigued by a new monitor in the near--ish future and was wandering if you say have 30% more pixels to render due to an increase in resolution, would you get 30% LESS total FPS?

1280x1024= 1, 310, 720 pixels

1680x1050= 1, 764, 000 pixels

1, 764, 000/ 1, 310, 720 = 1.35 i.e. 35% more pixels

Is that how it works? I know my 6800GE would NOT enjoy a 1680x1050 resolution yet my new X1950PRO might take to it well if given the chance

What you say makes good sense hangtime, glad I got the 512mb version, I hear that will handle higher res's a bit better?

V Annoyed here atm, got a pci-e power cable for my card only to find it doesn't fit! Its the white one, and like everyone else it doesn't even go in a little bit its so odd.
I started to file it down some, then guess what, I LOST it!
Coupled with the fact that ppl are having problems with this card anyway it seems its truly cursed.
FFING USE MOLEX HIS FFS! :mad:
