Hey Overclockers, I've recently bought the Samsung B2430H 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor and I've noticed a fairly big FPS drop, from around 70-80 FPS while playing Modern Warefare 2, to about 39-40

My system is the Ultimate Viper

If I'm being attacked by something heavy, an AC130 or bombing strike then my FPS drops to the point where it's horrible to play and then pops back up afterwards.

Is there any way to combat this and should this be happening? Thanks.

Without knowing what your previous monitor was it would be difficult to pinpoint the cause. Judging by the graphics card I suspect it's simply a case of the extra resolution straining your system.

I don't even know what my old monitor would be mate, it's some old default Dell LCD that came with the bog standard PC that I had a while back - I'm guessing you're right and in order to up the FPS, I'd have to reduce the game settings or get another Graphics card?

If your graphics card is the bog-standard 5570 listed on that build, you would be well advised to replace it. That is a mid-low end card, and not really suitable for gaming at 1920*1080 resolution (the native resolution of your monitor).

Consider either a nvidia GTX460, or wait a couple of weeks to see what the ATI 6-series brings. The new 6-series mid-range cards look to be very powerful if the rumoured specs are true, the only question remaining is the price.

Good plan. I'm fairly confident it will be worth it. It will certainly make your monitor purchase more worthwhile. :D
