FPS game for new PC?

I've recently purchased a new gaming PC:

Intel Core i7 960
6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 Triple Channel Kit
ATI 6870

Running on a 42" LG LCD TV @ 1920 x 1080.

Can you suggest some decent first person shooters for me play? I've not really has a PC good enough to run games for the last 2-3 years so open to suggestions gpoming abck a few years.

If your only after single player, bf3 may not be the way to go. Saying that, I can't think of an fps right now that does focus on the single player.

If you're after single player, have a look at Homefront and Metro 2033. The first one is very linear but I quite enjoyed it, and the latter is simply an amazing game (though more a survival kind of game I suppose, great atmosphere).

The first FPS i bought after i got my pc was crysis, picked it up cheap and had a pretty decent SP

Have you tried the early crysis games ? crysis and crysis warhead are great pc only FPS games, crysis 2 with the dx 11 patch may also be worth looking at.

Also what people have mentioned, metro 2033 and battlefield 3, cant go wrong with them, you can lose lots of hours of online multiplayer on battlefield 3

modern warfare 3 if you just want to let out some anger and run around blasting enemies in the face
