sorry if this is the wrong section but I’ve been looking for a thread that was created a while back that was really good that went in depth about FPS,gsync, in game settings, pixels etc. Like a general walk through of everything and how to make each thing better by using certain settings. But I cannot find it anywhere. Needing to have another read to confirm something that’s been annoying me in all my games lately.

Mainly gsync with my 120Hz screen.

Can someone point me in the direction if anyone else has seen it.

Yeah we have the same, that’s right I’m referring to my laptop I got the 120Hz one. I sorted out my last problem of the cpu usage but now I seem to get stuttering like my games will slow down for a second and then speed up all of a sudden like trying to catch itself up,
It’s not so bad with gsync off but still happens now and then, Was wandering if when gsync is on does that lock the FPS to the Hz of your screen? as it goes lower sometimes down to like 70-80. Even get stuttering when I drop down to high instead of very high or ultra. Even when there’s a GPU usage gauge hog would use say 5gb of vram out of my 8 but still get stuttering
Was trying to find the thread I mentioned above as I forgot to follow it and was interesting.
Maybe I’m playing to demanding games for 120Hz?

*Mods can move to correct place if needed*

Sorry sorry! I’ve been meaning vsync, think I’ve been reading into to much things lately and getting mixed up!
So know I know what I’m talking about.... when you turn on vsync is that meant to lock your FPS to 120 to match the Hz. Could I have to turn the Hz down? Is that pisssible? I run most games fine just a few that stutters

Wildlands - I know that’s quiet a heavy game but even stutters if I turn everything to high which uses 3 out of 8gb.

Pcars 2 - only seems to stutter in bad weather I have settings to high on this to which doesn’t stress my GPU out.

Steep - stutters now and then again have settings down.

Thought being i7/1070 I would be playing smoothly but even on high instead of ultra or very high I’m stuttering surely I don’t have to go to medium?

How good is NVIDIA experience at picking your settings for you I’ve tried opening games through that to

So do I have to disable vsync in my settings in game for all games?

I was getting bad stutters in f1 2018 until I turned off vsync seems a lot better now

Silly choice of monitor
(desktop is freesync monitor v 1070ti)

Thank you that explained a lot, what it is. Is that I have a freesync monitor and a NVIDIA GPU does that make a difference to what your saying?

I know that as much but having a freesync monitor with an Nvidia card do I have to disable the vsync or shouldnit be better as I seem to get better results with it disabled I usually like to keep it on for quality. Not sure if it’s mucked up because I bought this monitor
