Hi all I have been having an issue with my etup for few years never bother me but I came a point when it just starts to get annoying. I'm running
I7 4770k
Asus strik 1080ti
16bg ram 1600mhz ddr3
Msi z97 gaming 7
Corsair h60
750pw supperflow
144hz monitor
G synk off temp are normal.
I have been experiencing a lot of fps drops in games, I have played valorat a lot and my fps go from 200 to 90 when there is more things on the screen. When I press TAB in game the fps drops to 50 fps. Its struggling to keep stable fps which it should not. All driver are upto date I have freshly installed windows, does not help. Anyone have any idea.
At this point I'm really thinking of upgrading to new cpu. Was thinking amd ryzen 5 3600.
Please help.

Since when?

Depends on the clock and what RES he games at.

The April KB update for Win 10 caused gaming performance loss for many including myself since I am on DEV builds I do not have the KIR fix yet.
Well I have posted this issue back in 2015 on this forum back than I had a different motherboard and a gtx 970, since then I have upgraded the GPS and changed the motherboard. And that didn't work

Not with this little information.
On a whim I guess I'll suggest checking thermals, re-pasteing and ensuring XMP is turned on.

If you're taking the trouble to update your CPU, I'd go for something a little higher end than a 3600 though, it won't be a significant upgrade gaming wise.
I have change the paste before that didn't work. Change the cooling from air to the corsair one still nothing , I had different motherboard changed that I had different GPS upgraded that too, still same issue
Hmm OK, what cpu would you recommend, I'm willing to spend max £500 that's pushing it.

I sort of agree with this. I remember I had a 1080ti with a 4790K, and it was definitely limited. When I upgraded the CPU there wasn't a huge increase in highest FPS but there was a pretty substantial increases in the lowest FPS. You could rephrase that as far less FPS drops in-game.

But I am not sure that is OP's problem. OP's problem sounds more like a software issue, perhaps something to do with Windows or an application that's running in the background. I would certainly go down the route of trying to find out if the dips in preformance are due to apps. Take a look in Task Manger Performance maps to see if you can see anything happening.
could it be that my RAM is damaged and not performing up to its standard, i have replace all components except the RAM. changed MOBA, gpu and had a replaced CPU.

so i have monitored my CPU usage and temps, the usage is 45-50% when playing valorant and temp 45-55. so not bad,. there is no background app running i turn off discord, NVIDIA experience and any other overlay that keep interfere. and still the same issue occur.
