Any suggestions for an FPS Limiter?

I've just started playing Dead Space and with VSync on, the controls are aweful. With Vsync off, the controls are great but the lighting effects are tearing bad and I've ran into the invisible wall problem early on.

I've tried Afterburner but I cant get my head round it and remember reading something about a DX9 frame limiter.

Thanks for the help :). I've tried AB and D3D overider now but still having the same problem. Ill try and describe it a bit better. As snodge says, the framerate is too low with Vsync on, it's judders really bad. Using AB and D3D with vsync off is very smooth but according to AB, my framerate goes up to 500+ fps and some of the lighting scenes flicker badly. Also, a comical bug is introduced where bodies start jumping around which sort of kills the mood. Any ideas what else I could try?

Also check out D3DOverider, with this force v-sync on and triple buffer. That will stop your screen tearing at no performance loss.

Thanks, this actually fixed it. I tried Afterburner and it limited my frames to 60 but I was still getting tearing.

D3DOverrider with the Force VSYNC, Force Tripple buffering setting forced it on and locked it to 60fps VSYNC rather than the games built in stupid 30fps VSYNC.

Buttery smooth now and no mouse lag! :D

Are you enabling vsync in the game? I seem to recall there was an issue with the game where it was beneficial to disable vsync in the actual game, but then force it on in the drivers (that might have been the fix to enable 60fps with vsync on, but I can't quite remember).

Had to disable VSYNC in the game as you mention, this is where I was going wrong last night I think when I couldnt get D3DOverrider to work.

There's no difference in the vsync method, it's triple buffering that improves performance when using vertical synchronisation but introduces input lag.

If I turn force tripple buffering off I see and feel no difference. If I turn force Vsync off, the FPS shoots up to 200+ fps and I get tearing. If I turn VSync on in game, I get 30 FPS and mouse stutter.

So whatever voodoo D3DOverrider is doing, its locking my frames to 60 fps with no lag and no tearing, something I couldnt get the CCC to do or Afterburner.
