peripheral vision is almost 170 I think but its not uniform.

Turn off head bob, people used to get this on doom years ago. I think they changed floor textures to help but lighting might do it now

Yeah but your eyes only 'look at' 30 degrees either side of straight ahead (60 degree FOV). Anything beyond that is peripheral vision and is designed to detect movement. That's why a correctly calibrated FOV on a big screen 'warps' the image at the side. When you're looking at the centre of the screen and moving forward, your peripheral vision doesn't see this warp - instead you only notice if you move your eyes to the side of the screen and look at that area. The closer to the screen you get, the more of this FOV the screen takes up so the high the FOV setting should be. That's why consoles only use 55-60 as the large screens are typically in living rooms so you're much further from the screen. At 10 feet away, even a 50" screen probably won't enter your peripheral vision.
