I run on a sammy 24" 1980x1200 monitor i play with everthing turned to max/ultra

WOW although cpu dependant max fps 60?!!

Dawn of war 2 110?

LFD2 60?

Klling Floor 60:confused:

Reviews on asus 5870s xfire talk of 195fps at my res?

whats with this 60 limit i keep seeing?

that'd probably be why then..disable vsync and enjoy the full glory, or try to up the refresh rate of your display :)

no, 60 fps good, v-sync makes it so your frame rate cannot be higher then monitor refresh rate this is because you can notice tearing which are anoying graphic glicthes, like ghost sprites you card is pulling out more frames then your monitor can handle.

60 fps is great! the human eye cannot see more then 30 i think it was anything above 50 is quite overkill in terms of playability you really wont notice it but you will notice those horrible sprites. i would say leave v sync on.

Depends - a lot of fps gamers would rather deal with the odd bit of tearing than the input lag that vsync can cause.

You can't define the limits of the human eye in fps - some receptors are capable of detecting state changes lasting only 200th of a second.

Roff is right you cant put number on fps and eye can see but the brain can process approx 250fps or so i read but the 30fps thing has been proven many times to be false.
on topic that explains why my max was 60fps as my refesh rate max is 60 lol. In all honesty i notice no tearing at all on the games i play and cant see any diff to 60fps to 250fps i now get, i just didt understand how the cards works.
thanks for helping ppl nice to learn something new :D

Some people can see above 30FPS there is a test online you can do upto 60 FPS

Use Vsync + Triple Buffering.
Stable framerates, no tearing and no input lag.

Personally I keep vsync off, especially for games where the FPS might drop to 50-55ish or so. The only FPS where I made sure it was on was Bioshock, since the high framerates and ridiculous amount of flashing lights gave me massive amount of screen tearing, I could see at least 6 tear lines on my screen, which really took away from the immersion.

It's generally safe to say that Vsync should be enabled if you get ridiculous framerates above 60, like 120 and above.

I still find I notice input lag with vsync + triple buffering at 60hz, tho 120hz + vsync is fine - aslong as you can hold the fps.

I only really notice tearing at 45-65fps ish - deffinatly once I get a consistant fps above 100 then most of the time I only notice it on areas with lots of parallel lines like radiators, blinds, etc.
