FPS Settings playing World of Warcraft

Hi Guys,
I am unfortunately a laptop player. I simply don't have the space for a desk and proper pc at the moment.

I purchased this about a year ago

And in general its been fairly sound. Since Uldir launched I have been having some fps issues especially on the busier fights, Zek'voz, Zul, Mother (not add heavy but lots of beams and swirlies etc).

Even when we end up with silly big trash pulls on way to Zul it drops

Im running at around 60-80 fps out of combat in raid but as soon as we pull I'm dropping down to 10-20's

I have never built a pc or anything like that so don't have a full understanding of what could be causing it but the only thing I look at with that spec that would be causing headaches is the RAM is on the low side and when everyone is popping off I would have thought it is the RAM that takes the hit.

But then looking at BFA minimum and recommended requirements

https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/world-of-warcraft-battle-for-azeroth/17151

I am at the recommended level more or less. I mean the graphics card is just below recommended level but I currently raid at level 1 graphic settings so it should not be plummeting like it is if it was the gcard considering they say that the minimum requirements are far less than what I have.

I even resorted to using an ethernet connection to eliminate that as a potential issue.

I mean I'm not in a position to replace this and I'm hoping in 18 months to have a finished extension with new office space and a shiny new pc so new laptop is out of the question as its a waste. I would consider upgrading something upgradeable like RAM however.

I just don't have the knowledge to work out how to improve it.

Would appreciate any input from you people more knowledgeable than myself.

Its the cpu mate, low speed. Wow (esp raids) like high cpu speed.

Not played wow for ages, but do some research on settings. Some setting when you set them to low makes the cpu do that low work instead of the gpu, so make sure those settings are high enough to be using the gpu and not the cpu... this frees up the cpu to run the game better.

A lot of people are having frame rate issues in Uldir.
My PC as problems in the trash before Zul. I was doing a lfr going towards Zul and someone way over pulled and it turned into a slideshow and not 20 frames a seconds more like seconds a frame. Normaly I'm around 50+. A quick search of "wow problems with framerate in Uldir" shows your not the only person to have problems in Uldir.

Thanks threepwood,
I thought i7 was pretty decent shows my lack of knowledge. Are you saying running on really low settings could be putting the laptop into slack mode (last couple of hours of work on a Friday kind of thing)?

Dalandius,
I am aware that fps issues have been fairly common in uldir. However as I don't have in-depth knowledge of how each bit of hardware reacts with the others and the game I want to make sure I have done all I can to maximise performance and if it still ends up being the game then atleast I know I have done my bit.

My knowledge (no doubt flawed) goes as far as the theory of go for the hardware with the highest number ie. i9, 1080ti, and the more ram the better. Like I said no doubt flawed but I don't know any different and happy to be educated.
