FPS Stutter..

Hi,

On most game I play I get solid FPS but every minute or so I get a slight stutter in the frames, it only lasts a second but it's very annoying when Ive spent over 300 quid on a graphics card, I don't expect that to happen. For example when I play DayZ or Rust I get a solid 60FPS but every minute or so it'll dip to about 40 and cause a little jitter or lag spike, that's probably the best way to explain it, apart from that it runs brilliantly.

How can I stop this? Is there a setting in CCC I can change? Or any other setting somewhere?

I have a 7970 GPU so it's a very good card which should run everything fine.

I'm desperate for some help as I can't seem to fix it and it's so annoying.

Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

It's with most games, not just Arma etc. I have it on Borderlands 2, at times I'm getting over 100 FPS on Ultra but it stutters every minute or so which is really annoying!

What do you think might be causing this?

Another example is on Borderlands 2 I get over 100 FPS at times but every minute or so I'll get a stutter or lag spike which will drop it to around 60 but cause the screen to freeze for like a millisecond.

idk if a hyperthreaded cpu would help in those games, even so that cpu shouldn't be bottlenecked with a single 7970

tried raising the power control slider to 20%

and maybe one/two clicks more cpu memory controller voltage? cpu/vtt

I'm scared to mess about with the GPU and CPU settings as I've never done anything like that before, is it easy to do and safe?

I'll look in to that Setter.

I use the below as startup options on Dayz SA
-nosplash -noPause -cpuCount=8 -maxMem =8192 -high -nologs

Obviously your CPU count will need to be 4 and maxmem a useable figure (depending on you ram)

But try that and see where you go, I tend to get a fairly decent 60fps in Dayz now with the odd dip to 40.

-nologs makes a good difference IMHO

Tried that but the problem still persists.

It's not my graphics card as it did it with my old one as well, what processes should I be closing when I'm in game?

I had a problem with games stuttering, i had an SSD drive for a while and since getting that i forget to defrag my mechanical drive with all my games on, since windows allway so quick with the SSD. Since i dont know ur spec , i guess you could need to defrag drive if it mechanical.

I have a 1TB hard drive, no SSD.
