Hello All,

First let me list my PC Specs

CPU: FX 8350
GPU: 770 2GB
RAM: 16GB
PSU:600W
HDD: 2 X 240GB SSD
OS: Win 10 Pro
Cooler: Corsair H60

Anytime I am playing any video game I am experiencing FPS drops from a stable 60/70 straight down to 15/20... (I mainly play PUBG, and Cod WWII)

I have monitored temps and during 99% load the GPU is never above 80c and the CPU is rarely over 60/70.

I did notice that when the FPS spikes occur, looking at the CPU it dips then comes back up. (Image attached to explain)

I would really appreciate any help with is as it's making most games unplayable...

looks like a heat issue, might be that your vrms cant supply the 8350 enough juice because it's over heating.
just look at the subsequent peaks dropping off after it recovers

Which PSU and motherboard are they exactly?

Hi, I bought the PSU a while ago but I am sure it is a Superflower 550w
(https://www.overclockers.co.uk/supe...us-platinum-power-supply-black-ca-056-sf.html) this one I think...

Motherboard: Asrock 970 Extreme 3
(https://www.amazon.co.uk/970-Extreme3-R2-0-Motherboard-TruStudio/dp/B00C15B2DQ)

I have checked and there is no TEMP spikes or decreases when the CPU spikes happen so fairly sure it is not a temperature issue.

Thanks

Aidan

not all boards have a temp sensor to monitor vrm temperatures, and with a 8350 paired with a 970 am3 board, it is notorious to get cpu throttling when the vrms overheat. an easy way is to stick a fan that blows over the vrms and see if you get these cpu drops again.
but okay if you feel that there's no temp issues.

Yeah I think this is it, just did some digging and it seems like a lot of people have this problem with FX8350 & 970 board.

I'll go home and somehow get a fan pointing straight on the VRM's and let you know how I get on.
