hello peeps was originally going to go for an nzxt s340 as i had one before but after looking at the fractal define r4 and define s im really leaning towards either one of the mentioned cases.

has anyone had these cases that could give me first hand experience you had with them or would i be better going with s340? i was thinking of the define s as it would maybe future proof my build if i decide to go water cooling route.

help would be appreciated thanks

The Define R4 is quite old. Do you mean the Define R5 as thats the most current Define RX case? The S is targeted at water coolers but the R5 gives you the best of both air/water and is focused around silence. The only thing I hate about the R5 is the front I/O is mounted to the front panel and not the chassis. Must you buy the case right now? Can you wait for the Evolv ATX?

who is the evolv atx made by? dont necessarily have to get a case straight away just seen the fractals and seen they are different compared to normal cases i go for, i really liked the define s due to water cooling options as thats what i might be planning on doing

I've just done a build in the Fractal Define S. Loads of space in there for your watercooling kit although I've got the Noctua NH-D15 cpu cooler in it . Cable routing is decent, it's quiet and has no obstructions for the airflow.

It's also bang on budget. I paid ausd154 (75gbp) for mine.

I too liked the reviews of the NZXT S340 but the NH-D15 won't fit and considered the Corsair 450d but it wasn't stocked around here at a price that was reasonable.

i have really been leaning towards the define s as i want to do water cooling down the line, it will be air for the mean time if i get it :$ ! i had the s340 before but want to try a different case as i havent had a fractal yet, i have a cooler master hyper 212 evo cpu cooler atm and it fits in the s340 as there is a build on youtube someone has it installed in the nzxt.

should i go for define s do you think? but then im sorta thinking will it look barebones in the define s not having water cooling in it just air cooling!

There is certainly a lot of free space inside after my build although that's partly due to not having a graphics card inside yet! (Waiting to get my hands on a gtx980ti but distribution is slow out here in the Uae!) Even so, there will still be tons of space behind the front panel where usually you would have drive bays or watercooling. I don't mind as my PC is on the floor so I won't see it and that space just means unobstructed airflow for air cooling.

yeah very true mine will be on pc desk next to me, i will be doing water cooling in it thats why im really thinking of define s as it has that space for when i decide to water cool, wont be to evryones taste as im sure define s is an older case compared to other cases, i just like the room and how the define s looks
