Hi, the blue power light on my R3 case isn't coming on or showing while the PC is switched on.

The PC boots fine and is running without any problems.

The front panel connectors are connected to the Mobo (Gigabyte Z68).
Should I be concerned? Bit worried in case its the motherboard playing up or it's a symptom of something going wrong.

"Without this 1k resister, the 3v blue LED would die instantly from the 5V power indicator from the motherboard."
From my understanding, the Gigabyte Z68 boards output 5v to the power LED. Not 3.3v

In short, you've blown it up and need to replace it. I have reported it to Fractual that this type of LED power rating is too low.
You can ask for a replacement part but it is a bit of a job getting the thing swapped from the case and altered with a resister.

I checked and it was the right way round, thanks for that though as its something I would have done! In this case though surprisingly not.

Thanks also Mdagli1, that's very helpful.

I might request a bit for it in case I ever sell it but its not material to it working I suppose (unless anyone knows differently I am afraid my knowledge of front panels is fairly woeful). Shame really as (silly but true) I liked the blue it matches my other stuff.

It wouldn't have damaged anything else or harmed the motherboard when it went would it? Should it now just be unplugged.

I am leaning towards not as it is only a little LED but better safe than sorry!

Just to update, thanks for the information and suggestion, I emailed Fractal and they sent a good note back quickly and will send me a new LED.
