Very nice case. Although what's the point in front fans if you like to have the door shut, they won't be anywhere near as effective?

The vents down the side of the door exist to allow the fans to draw in air. From what I've seen in reviews, they actually seem quite effective.

Ahh, I didn't see those. Makes sense!

Yup, that's right. Makes a lot if difference and actually for a case aimed at noise reduction the vents work well whilst still blocking out the noise. For improved airflow I sometimes open the door and the two fan grills (for example if running a benchmark or occasionally gaming). Good price too btw.

I do like the look of these cases, but the door would annoy me too. What ports are behind the door - is it just USB3.0? Can you mount the hinges on either side, or is it pre-determined?

I have one of these, the ports are not behind the door, they are on the top with the power button, the drives (and front fans) are behind the door. The door opens one way (hinges left) with a little recess in the side as an opener. USB (3) ports and headphone jack etc on the top.

I really like, it runs well, not too warm, very quiet, the only small issue is they don't tell you that some motherboards (have a Gigabyte broad) will blow the little power LED due to sending too high a voltage to the light from the mobo, but after seeking advice here I sent a note to Fractal and they replied promptly and are sending me a replacement part and a resister for that. Friendly quick reply too.
