Fractal Design R3 front headphones/mic input

Has anyone who owns the R3 had any problems getting the front headphone socket to work? May just be my mobo, but I can't for the life of me get any sound coming out of that socket and it's so annoying having to always go round the back of the case to plug my headphones in...

I just finished building a new box with a Fractal R3, and the front panel audio plugs don't seem to be working either.

I built a new system using this case at the beginning of January and the front panel audio works fine.

I remember there being a problem regarding the R2 and front panel USB connectors. The USB cable that connected to internal headers and the front panel was wired up wrong and Fractal shipped a bunch of new cables to people affected... could be a batch of R3's with the cable that connects to the front panel and headers is wired wrong. Try a different HD Audio/AC97 cable if you have a spare one lying around just to see if that is an issue.

I built a PC in an R3 case and the front connectors work fine. I think I had to use AC97 instead of the HD Audio connectors though.

Slight thread necro, but I've been having trouble with dodgy front panel audio as well. When I first put everything together it didn't work at all - I found out it was because the plug for the front connectors (above the top 5 1/2" spot) had come loose while I was routing cables.

After a bunch of effort getting to the thing and pushing it back in, all was well. Then I changed motherboards and now have the same problem again - the headphone jack doesn't work at all, and the mic jack is sketchy. I think the plug has just come loose again, so you could try the same thing I did. You'll have to remove anything in the top two bays and then reach up and try to push the plug in a bit better - it's really hard to see and get to though.

I RMA'ed for a new USB board for the front panel but got sent a Sound board O_O....

Fractal customer service is very good give them a message via their website and they will replace the part free of charge.

That's something else I was going to ask - how do you actually get in there to replace the board?
