Looking at a HTPC build for the front room, picked up the Fractal ridge case as my wife, and I, approve of it visually, and it will fit in the tv stand horizontally.

Essentially need it to be able to play 4k video and be quiet whilst doing it. The ability to play games on it would be nice, but not the priority. Would like to keep the budget under £700 (not including the case). Any build suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent, thanks definitely something to think about. The 'under £700' budget was a bit of an ask to be fair, I haven't built something for a while and not sure whats out there, good to get a picture of what's possible. If the budget was rounded up to £900, would you do anything different?

Replace stock cpu cooler? I have storage sorted.

Yeah, there's two things, I guess:

- Upgrade the CPU cooler (though, I'm not sure how much better the low profile coolers would be).
- Upgrade the graphics card to make 4K more viable (e.g. 6700 XT), though you'd have to be careful of it not exceeding the recommended dimensions for the case.
