I have a question.

My computer is solely used for overwatch nowadays. ( haven't found other games I like)

I can hold solid 165fps at 1440p. Which matches my screen hz. But the second I open YouTube and play a song or something (music in the background) my FPS gets hammered hard...

What do I need to do to fix this? Been thinking about getting an i7 to drop in. Would this help?

Hi. Thanks for the response.

Specs are:

Intel i5 4670K @ 4.8Ghz
16Gb Crucial DDR3 1600
ASUS Maximus Gene VI
EVGA Classified 980Ti
EVGA G2 Supernova 750W
OS is on a Samsung 850 evo
Game is on a Raid 0 ssd setup. OCZ something or rather.
Monitor is a AOC Agon AG271QG.

I'll check CPU Usage when I get home in an hour.

Wow how much detail do you turn down to get 165fps on a single 980ti?
Andi.

Its on medium ish graphics with 120% render draw. Runs real good and looks OK. More fussed with fps than the game looking good. My 980ti is clocked quite well though. Its no slouch.

Your gameplay performance is just fine, as it should be with a 980ti

I'd imagine that your issue is because of the lack of hyperthreading on the i5.

Guessing there isn't much point going for Kaby Lake. Need to find a decent clocker 4790k then.

I tried the GPU rendering thing. That didn't help.

Just out of sheer interest, if you lock your frame-rate to say 60fps do you still get stuttering while watching youtube in the background?

No because the fps never drops below like 145 even with YouTube open. But I get frame skipping and it just becomes a juddery mess.
