So I've tried talking about this in the laptops forum, but it's quiet there. And thx is a whole replaceable card. So, given the below information, does it provide enough graphics power to run it's screen? Is it enough to rub everything on max, or is it just disappointing?

Discrete Graphics Options (configurable)
None (use integrated graphics)

Radeon™ RX 7700S
32 compute units
100W TGP
8GB 18Gbps GDDR6 memory

Am also interested in the relative performance of the integrated graphics, if people have opinions...

Looking at tech power up it’s in the Radeon 6650xt or 7600 range of performance. So 1080p gaming. Disappointing that’s up to you. Love the idea of modular laptops. Very interesting.

Base CPU is the 7840HS so just look online for reviews of that to gauge its performance. Its essentially a higher TDP variant of what is found in the handheld PC's.

7700S wise as @eeii states its basically the same GPU as the desktop 7600 albeit clocked slower due to the lower TDP. Just check out reviews of that GPU and knock off say 10% to get a good steer for the laptop variant.

Love the concept of both the 13 and 16 variants but would like to see beefier GPU options for the 16" chassis.

I do love the idea. It's just... I need a laptop. That's not in question. And this is not a _cheap_ laptop.

And I can't decide if it's good or not. For a similar price I could get a mobile 4060, but again there's the problem of no effective reviews. We're spitballing the 7700s, as we have no real data. But it's upgradable... but does that really matter? (Then again, every laptop I've ever had has lasted years... and it's the graphics which are disapointing here....right...?!)

I hate indecision hell.

7700s is a known quantity as tech power up have tested it. Not a fan of putting high powered graphics in laptops as they get super hot very quickly and sound like jet engines taking off.

The 4060 has been reviewed as well. Just look for Jarod's Tech on Youtube as he does a number of 4060 laptop reviews.

For the same price as the Framework with the 7700S, 32GB of RAM, 1TD SSD and Win 11 Pro you are well into 4070 tier models from other manufacturers. All depends on what you want.

The Framework upgradability is a cool USP but it really does depend on how they deliver going forward, especially for the 16" model and its expansion bay.

All I can suggest is read / watch reviews on a number of laptops that take your fancy (again a channel like Jarod's tech is good for this as he primarily looks at laptops from various vendors) and see where the pros and cons lie.

If you need a laptop right now then that may be an issue when it comes to the Framework 16. Looks like orders now are not shipping until Q1 2024 (Been looking at the same laptop for Design users at work, the inclusion of only an AMD GPU for now is a little annoying as we have had issues with both AMD GPU equipped laptops in AutoCAD).
