France World Cup squad suspended

The French Football Federation suspends all 23 members of France's World Cup squad for their next game.

Personally I think we should do the same with the england squad for the next 4 years :p

Excellent news as this will give Clichy, Sagna and Diaby some extra rest. The downside of course is that it means Nasri must surely be used.

COuldn't care less about Diaby, an injury on international duty that forces Wenger to not pick him would do us good, Wenger seems incapable of dropping him on his own.

Nasri might still not get called up, its one game, Blanc will probably choose players he's most familiar with and having been a manager of a french team with lots of French players, wouldn't be surprising to see lots of players mostly in the french league being called up.

THe real question is where the hell is this tell all interview from Patrice "the tease" Evra? I thought at the time, he might want to but someone will tell him to keep quiet if he ever wants to be picked for the national team again in the future.

It still seems clear the manager was on crack, Platini and a couple other friends of the manager were the only reason he wasn't fire years before, and the players were simply reacting to the manager doing one last completely ridiculous thing. Its not pretty but the players were midway through the 2nd most embarassing tournament due to the manager being a complete ******.

The players, press, whole nation had previous made multiple attempts to make it clear how truly awful the manager was before hand, for a couple years, isn't striking just the last resort to send this message. Its not really their fault Platini is his best friend and is a power hungry madmen happy to make his friend the manager despite being truly awful.

The question will be surely "if France fields no players at all will their team perform better or worse?".

:D

Have France got a silly August friendly planned too?

Yep.

It was always going to come given that Blanc was part of the WC winning squad and he and virtually the rest of that squad think the current set of players are a joke.

Agree. Regardless of how poor the manager was it was the players that let themselves and their country down. They could've played on despite the manager and came out of the other side looking like heroes but instead they came out looking like the bunch of surrender monkeys they truly are.

The interviews Evra, Abidal and to a lesser extent Henry gave after their elimination said volumes about the inflated egos the more established players have and why there are so many problems within the French camp.

Well it's pretty much a given that lots of players mostly in the french league will be called up, given that the majority of decent Frenchmen plying their trade overseas are suspended (only 7 outfield players in their World Cup squad ply their trade in Ligue 1). I still think it is the perfect opportunity for him to take a look at Nasri, and maybe look to recall some of the other big names playing overseas like Benzema, Diarra and Saha (although less likely).

Realistically, there is NO reason why he should consider overlooking Nasri in favour of domestic players for this game, it's the same as any other Friendly game just with a severe restriction on what players he can pick. Don't forget Ligue 1 kicks off before this Friendly is being played whereas the Premiership doesn't start until after, so Nasri won't have played a gruelling 90mins in 'the most competitive league in the world'(TM), he'll be fit as a fiddle, meanwhile all the French boys will have been slugging it out in the balmy August heat less than 4 days (less than 3 days in some cases) earlier. It's an away game so it's not like a home fixture where you might choose to just use locals, everyone is going to have to get on a plane anyway.

when you look at that squad it's amazing the players that idiot Domenech omitted from the world cup party: Diarra, Nasri, Méxes, Benzema, Ben Arfa...

especially when he chose to take players I really don't rate, like Govou, Abidal, Cissé, Planus, etc.

I honestly think anyone else in the world who has ever watched 90mins of football could have done a better job managing that group of players. I would have ****ing won the world cup with them! :D

Well Benzema didn't do anything in the season to deserve going, Anelka's past 2 seasons have spanked Benzema's, Anelka would have done much better with a better team, Diarra was massively missed from their shoddy midfield, Nasri would EASILY have played better than Govou, the massively over rated and inconsistant Ribery whose been utter crap all year, Mexes has good times and bad, better than Abidal who I think they played at CB didn't they rather than left back where he usually plays for Barca, when he can get a game.

This is why I have no idea why they would be angry at the squad, they were only venting at the single worst manager to be in charge of ANY team at the world cup, he's a complete baffoon whose done nothing to deserve the job.

The only reason they are being punished is to take some off the blame off Dom, and the only reason he got the job, is because he's best mates with Platini, who is the guy who seemed to be standing in the way of him being fired several times when every player, frenchman, and most people involved thought he should be gone.

The question STILL, is where the hell is Evra. I reckon Platini threatened Evra in particular, but probably most players with never playing for France again, and probably being fined if they spoke out against the manager.

Should have all stood up and done it though, what would Platini really do except make a pratt of himself to still back Domenech.

Would have loved to see Evra list everything that happened at the world cup.

Evra, Abidal and Henry spoke to the media ages ago and got ripped to pieces for being pathetic little children.
