Fraps Makes Windows Stuttery

When ever I have fraps open windows feels stuttery, I disable it and it instantly goes away, What would be causing this ?

Fraps is turd by todays standard and hasn't improved at all over the years.
You should look at moving on because there is much better alternatives out there now.

I mainly only use it for screenshots as it tends to work with every game, Any good alternatives ?

DXTory is very good. I use Mirilis Action though as I got it very cheap on special a few months ago, love it to be honest, been hassle free.

I don't have any issues with FRAPS, use it on both a PC with an ATI card and one with a Nvidia card, so don't think it can be a graphics card issue as such. You on an up to date graphics driver?

Alternatively that mirillis option looks quite good.

MSI afterburner.. Dxtory, ShadowPlay for Nvidia - Not sure if it takes images though.
Raptr for AMD

The best would be Dxtory for me offer more features than any other software and can be tweaked a lot to offer less performance hit.

I was looking the other day and could not see a screenshot facility for Shadowplay. Otherwise, for vid and FPS count, it's pretty good (and free). However, I do find my audio commentary seems to drop out after a few minutes, for some reason. I don't record with mic often enough to care, though.

The only things I have used since stopping using fraps because of its sluggishness, is OBS, Steam and the built in screenshot tool in Ubuntu.
