FRAPS Question

I use to use this all the time on my old desktop

I never use to get much of a performance hit, now on my new laptop it reduces frps to 2 when recording video.

but imho the specs are not too different

Desktop
AMD Opty 1.44 (2.8ghz)
2Gigs Ram
7800GT

NoteBook
Merom 1.83ghz
2Gigs Ram
Go 7600GT

so im wondering why im getting such a hit now

i'd guess that your lappy hdd is a lot slower?

its a 5400rpm rather then 7200rpm

what if say saved the captures to a external usb HD instead of the main drive would that speed things up?
