FRAPS

FRAPS, not used that in around 12 years! Was a great program

What with Nvidias drivers being close to 1GB now (!?) there really should be a built in basic FPS overlay. I refuse to reinstall the bloatware that is Nvidia Geforce Experience

The glory days of FRAPS!

Anyone else remember the in game chat app Xfire? Before Steam actually had a proper chat function!
Yeah xfire was great, being able to right click a persons name and join their game was also good.

I also remember ASE (All seeing eye) for old school servers and being able to track dedicated game servers and joining directly.

Good times.

Have a look at RTSS, AFAIK it is what comes in MSI Afterburner to give the overlay.

RTSS with Steam Power Tools is what I use on my Steam Deck. There are 4 different options to show stats at the top bar, minimal being FPS and battery only etc. Also the classic look that goes down the left side.

I thought the steam deck had it's own built into the OS?

I had Fraps in 2011, shame it's been abandoned. Does anyone remember Roger Wilco? That's getting on for 25 years years ago. One of the earliest popular talk over the internet apps I think. Used to use it in multiplayer games with mates.
