Hello all, hopefully this is within the confines of the rules if not please feel free to delete.

I recently was a victim of fraudulent activity. I believe my details have been gathered by theft of post as i live in a flat which has a communal area in which lazy postmen often leave the post on the publicly accessible window. A few months ago i started to receive letters from a whole host of companies such as Very and three to name but a couple. Almost all of the companies who had wrote to me wrote to advise they had detected fraudulent activity and that they were investigating this and just wrote to advise me of this. I have followed up with all of these providing action fraud crime reference numbers. I have had absolutely no issues with these companies who have made this an easy and somewhat painless process.

However, sky….. OH SKY. Presumably the same person has taken out two mobile phone contracts via SKY who did not identify this as fraudulent. They have been sending me dozens of letters and have referred this to a debt collection agency who are also messaging me, phoning and writing daily despite my regular communications with them explaining and requesting this gets looked into by their fraud department.

To note my calls
10/03/2025 - 35 mins on the phone with them
29/04/2025 - 15 mins on the phone before they hung up, followed up with another 15 mins phone call where i spoke to a lovely lady who genuinely seemed to want to get as much information as possible and help with this.
16/05/2025 - 45 mins on the phone with them explaining i still have not heard anything back from them and wanting to know what was going on. The again lovely call handler took lots of information and said someone would be back in touch.
21/05/2025 - 5 mins on the phone - the call handler outright refused to help saying it wasn’t there job as they aren’t based in the uk but refused to transfer me to the uk dept, a supervisor or provide any further information.
21/05/2025 - 15 mins on the phone - asked to make a complaint about both the fraud issue and the previous call handler - got put through to the wrong department twice and then told they can’t transfer to a complaint dept and given a phone number direct to the complaints department. this has turned out to be just another generic number to the automated switchboard.

Several times i have been promised that someone is going to be back in touch with me promptly. Absolutely nobody from sky has been in contact with me apart from demand for payment letters.

I am beyond frustrated at this point with them. I have been a paying customer for about 5 years with sky broadband and they don’t seem to care at all. This may also have further consequences for my employment as i am currently undergoing a further vetting process for a further possession of which financial status is heavily investigated.

Is there anyone people can suggest i speak to about this to try and get this resolved. I know there are a lot of places but i don’t know which will be the best.

I presume you've got onto Action Fraud?

I have it was the first thing i did after a phone call with them they requested i phone my local police force whom i knew would refer me to action fraud. I have a generic email from action fraud with a reference number and advising that it’s a none recordable crime and that they can’t really do anything which i understand is a legal element of it I don’t have an issue with that.

It’s just the absolute lack of anything being done to help from sky which is becoming beyond a joke.

I have just endured another hour on the phone. I have thankfully spoken to someone else who sounds to be again genuinely trying to help. I have explained that I’m now posting publicly about this not due to the majority of the call handlers as individuals but more as the lack of action by sky.

He has advised me of some details from the account and re confirmed that the action fraud number has been taken down.

I explained what i have been advised by very in regards to what happened on their side being someone had ordered initially around £80 of goods to my property and then re directed them to a collection point around 0.1 miles away. (Local offender definitely) This person then tried the following day to take an order almost to the amount of IIRC £3000 OR £6000. This was around Jan i had the conversation with them so i couldn’t honestly recall which it was. This was automatically identified as fraud and investigated by them.

Upon me explaining this to the nice gentleman at sky he himself looked into the delivery of the that i have now been advised of 2x iPhone 16 pros. He was kind enough to spend some time going over the descriptions of the photographs that were taken upon delivery and to my surprise the first image was a well and detailed description that is definitely the communal entrance to the flats.

The delivery image described a cream tiled floor and the image from the door shows a white handed male wearing brown work boots. This is quite clearly the description of my neighbour below. There are two family’s on the bottom floor and only one of them being white. As well as only the bottom floor being cream tiled everything else is carpeted. Conveniently this is the same person whom when our TV was delivered and went missing his son’s bedroom had a tv added to it the following day.

At this point i may also refer this to the local police force given a reasonable suspicion of a known offending person.
