This is more of a heads up than a rant, as it could be self inflicted, but It's certainly not a pleasant feeling.

Today I just setup my online banking account as mony is going in and out all the time, so I thought it's e a good idea to be able to manage in my usual everyday seat.

As soon as I check my statement I find this:

Fantastic... £200 to a company I've never heard about. Sure, I've heard of ebay and I use ebay, but not Ebay AG international. The thing is, I've heard of this before, and It's related to a spoof email I get in my main email account. The problem is I've never done anything more than deleted it. I know its a spoof email, as I use a seperate web based email account for ebay related things.

I'm staggered to how I've managed to fall victim to this and cannot remember putting my details anywhere I don't trust. After using the web since about 1995, I never thought i'd be stupid enough to let this happen.

Barclays will be able to dispute the payments for me, which is great, and I've to hear back from ebay to see what they say.

Being safe isn't always as safe as it seems :(

Sorry for any bad typing, my keyboard is doing some odd things.

That is odd.

But Ebay do not have my card number as i share my selling account with my dad and I pay him the listing fees (which would never bee £200 for 28 items ever listed). I'm also puzzled to the Canadian fees too...

I'm pretty stumped now, this is definitely foul play.

Why would ebay be charging for a transaction?

Ebay charge for listings on your selling account. Why would ebay take money for someone elses item? Thats for paypal and other methods.

There is definitely foul play somewhere. Like Sanzy says, the Ebay selling account was setup by my dad on his card. My card has only been used with the Paypal account when making a direct money transfer.

The other fishy thing is it says EBAY INTL AG for the Canadian payment. Since when was Canada in Europe?

Seems to be quite an elaborate scam.

I've checked PayPal too. Paypal comes up as paypal on statements in any event as I have some legit transactions on there.

I suppose I will find out what the deal is when I get in touch with Barclays and Ebay get back to me.
