Not sure if anyone is interested but I came across a code for 12 months free TomTom Go app and decided to try it out. Using car play the lane guidance and speed camera alerts seem to work well and I actually prefer it to Waze atm

When you install the app make sure you don’t click to do the trial you need to redeem from your account and log in with the account you made when buying (for free)

I actually got a month free too when I signed in on the app so 13 months for free! Worth a go

  • Visit this TomTom shopping cart page: http://tomtom.com/

  • To verify your account, please check your mailbox for a confirmation email from TomTom and click the link in that email to confirm your account.
  • Now, on the TomTom shopping cart page, choose the payment method (credit card, PayPal, or Google Play). Do not worry, you will not be charged.

I found my TomTom go540 in the shed earlier. Must be at least 13 years old. Kept it just in case :D

God, this is hot garbage so far. Downloaded, and it can't find my mums address, at all. Does it download the maps road by road or somethin?

I bought a tom-tom go 6000 many years ago, still use it

I bought it because

1. Free for life traffic, speed canera and maps
So no subscriptions

2. Don't need to hook it up to your phone for any of the above or to update it

I tried again today and I honestly can't believe I'm having this issue - it literally can't find anything more than 50 miles from my house

I give up.

Looks like it uses offline maps and downloads your local one when you install but you need to go in and download the rest of the uk in the map settings

Ah you are right - for some reason it had just downloaded the South.

No wonder TomTom aren't what they used to be - very weird user experience they have created here!

Had a Tom Tom years ago but ditched it when we got built in sat nav, if I get a hire car when the sat nav hasn’t been purchased I just use Waze on my mobile (bought a iPhone mount specifically for these times as well), can’t see how there’s a need for Tom Toms anymore as 99% of people have got a smartphone
