Hey guys

Sorry for the multiple questions on software tonight. Just trying to use my MacBook a lot more so I can get the most out of it and justify a MBP purchase in the future :p

I have always used iPhoto but feel I'm outgrowing it a bit now, it doesnt do a lot of stuff I want, and I would like something that can do RAW image processing.

I would download the Aperture 2 trial but I can't afford to buy it, and I know once I start using it, I'll whip out the credit card which I REALLY can't afford to do lol

So are there any free apps which are as close to Aperture as possible? Or if not free, a lot cheaper, but preferably free lol :p

Cheers once again

If you can afford a MacBook Pro then I'm sure you could squeeze in a £199 software purchase.

Just buy the MBP with HE discount and buy Aperture with the savings :)

I just bought aperture 2 and i am now using it instead of LightRoom on my mbp and so far i am very pleased with it not sure it's worth the £199 price tag but so far so good :)

Is it worth the £199?

That kind of depends on whether you will use it or not...
I personally store, sort and process a library of over 15,000 photos, so for me, having a single app that delivers great results and is soo easy to use, Aperture is essential.

Or are there better or cheaper alternatives?

Lightroom is pretty much the only other similar featured app that i know of, and imo Aperture is superior (ive got both), not sure about the pricing on Lightroom as I got mine for nothing (RSP owner upgrade) :)

Wow, they downed it to £129? Was originally £399, then £299, now £129!!?!

I personally use Adobe Bridge CS3, purely because it allows me to import direct to Photoshop and I'm anal retentive with my meta data, which Bridge is great for! :D

Yea, so..

Aperture and Lightroom are slightly different to Bridge. :p

iPhoto ---> Aperture|Bridge <---- Photoshop

Aperture being the prosumer version of iPhoto, with Bridge's cataloging and a hint of Photoshop's editing thrown in.

Actually you can get Aperture 2 for £55.23 with the HE discount from Apple. (this version however doesnt entitle you to an upgrade price to the next version, i.e. aperture 3, but at this price its cheaper than actually upgrading from Aperture 1 ! the upgrade option is £65 lol!)

Well worth it, theyre practically giving it away!
