Free AVI / WMV Decoder from DVD

Hi,

I'm on the look for a free ripper/encoder to rip a dvd to either format. There's no issue with copyright on this one hence why I'm asking the question (an old family dvd)

Seen a few on google but they all seem to be shareware and are just different UI for essentially the same code.

Any suggestions.

Not sure about free, but I personally rip DVDs with DVD Decrypter, and encode with AutoGK.
