free baseball management game

i played through a season on coach level with the houston astros last night. i won the national league but lost to the red sox in the world series. seems a pretty decent game to me.

i think the real challenge is managing a franchise for a few years - i packaged quite a lot of young players to get some established stars with only a year or two left on their contracts. i think in a year or so the team i was playing with last night would have been busted - with me having to release lots of players, or pay them big bucks and messing up my finances.

homers seem a little too frequent to me - i guess this game is for the 2004 season so towards the end of the 'roids era.

can I just ask - who want's to be the manager of a baseball team?? Baseball is soooo boring to watch!!

Strike 1, Ball 1, Ball 2, Strike 2, Hit - oh it's a foul, Hit oh he's gone to first base. Repeat.

At least football is interesting to watch and thus football manager = cool :)

but... baseball :S
