Free/cheap video editing software?

After playing around with garageband I realise it's a bit like a cut-down version of Logic.

Is there an equivalent version of Final Cut or any freeware that allow simple video editing on the Mac?

I'm sure you lot have picked up on my stance, but iLife is amazing and criminally underrated, specifically for doing things that you're not amazing at. You can get really nice results without loads of knowledge. iMovie's the bomb diggy, especially '09.

No, do I come over as though I do? I'm a very recent newcomer to the Mac side of things and really don't consider myself that advanced in all things Macintosh.

Why not spend £799 on Final Cut Studio?

Or in all seriousness use iMovie. It's quite good.
