Free DVD Profiling Software for PC?

Looking to scan all the barcodes of my DVDs so I can create a catalog on the computer, to ensure I don't accidentally buy duplicates, which software is best and what kind of hardware would I need?

My webcam isn't autofocus so I cannot use it to read the barcodes from the cases.
