I have bought a second hand Xbox 360 controller and want to test it so I can leave some feedback.

I will eventually get fifa, but in the mean time, does anyone know of any free games I can test this with?

Yeah you'll need steam and the download might be quite big. Just seen this though. Have a read:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906347
Step 1: Install the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows software
Use the installation CD that came with your Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, before you connect the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows to your computer. Here's how:

Insert the installation disc in the CD or DVD drive of your computer.

If the setup program does automatically start, change to your CD or DVD drive and run the setup program.

On the setup screen, click Install.
The Xbox 360 Accessories Setup program installs the necessary files to your computer.

Note You might be prompted to restart the computer.

Or, if you do not have an installation disc for your Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, you can download and install the software by following these steps:

Go to the Download Software section of the Microsoft Hardware page:
www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=Gaming&type=Gaming
Select Controller as the product type.
Select Xbox 360 Controller for Windows as the product.
Select the version of Microsoft Windows you are using on your computer and the operating system language.
Click Go.
Click the setup link.
Click Run.

The Xbox 360 Accessories Setup program installs the necessary files to your computer. You might be prompted to restart the computer.

Step 2: Connect the controller to your computer
After you install the software, plug the USB connection on your Xbox 360 Wired Controller into a USB 2.0 port on your computer.

Step 3: Test the controller
To test your Xbox 360 Wired Controller on your computer, follow these steps:

On your computer, click Start, type joy.cpl, and then press ENTER.
Select Xbox 360 Controller, and then click Properties.
Test your Xbox 360 Wired Controller by pressing a button, pulling a trigger, or moving a stick on the controller.

I had a look at the recommended free racing game, "trackmania nations forever". I wanted to see how relatively popular it was. I searched under Steam's free games section and it doesn't appear.

Does anyone know why steam doesn't show the game under the free games section? [store->click games "free to play" from menus at top of page->use filters to select the "racing" tag].

Did you not click the above link which takes you direct to the Steam store for the game?

Download xpadder (think there's free versions around)and you can test every little feature of the joypad.

Hi, I have downloaded the game. My question was why the game doesn't show up through when browsing for it manually. I was curious if there were other free racing games that were more popular, and when browsing the free games I noticed that it wasn't showing up.

Ahh I see, I just looked again and on the green button on the steam site it says 'third party' so that's maybe why?
