Hey all,

What does it mean by "11 Months Free Line Rental (Equivalent After Cashback)"

I was looking atthis phone, and also the same one on a different network (on a different website) and both have mentioned that the amount is after cashback. How does this work as i've never got a contract phone before

Help appreciated a hell of a lot!

Basically with a cashback deal, you pay the mobile operator one amount, then send the bills off to the retailer and they give you a certain amount of money back.

So you could be paying the mobile operator £50 a month, then getting £200 back every 4 months from the retailer.

The problem with such systems, of course, is that some dealers don't pay, leaving you with an expensive contract that you're stuck with.

Surely it would be illegal if they didnt pay the money they said that they would in the 1st place? I was thinking of the redemption deal, where it is the equivalent of 10 months free line rental, would not have bothered with an 18-month contract otherwise. Its onestopphoneshop (not sure if im allowed to mention the name or not) are they legit? I know virgin sell phones through there, so thought it might be a good place to go

onestopphoneshopare a respectable website, they are owned by Carphonewarehouse :)

Just had a look at E2Save, and on there you get 8 months free line rental on a 12 month contract! Sounds almost too good to be true!? After redemption it works out to £10 a month!

If only it came with 500texts I would be really happy. Adding texts on bumps up the price quite considerably :(

You can get 12 month deals with 12 months fee, and some of them have 500 txts.

Trouble is though is that I want the E900, and they wont do 12 months free line rental with that.

Makes me wonder though, how do they make any money if they give you free mins & text, and give you back the money for the whole contract term?

They rely on the fact that many people forget to send their bills in, or they send the wrong ones in etc etc.

Not sure if anyone can beat the deal that I have just found.

It is an 18 month contract, but from Carphonewarehouse you get 200mins & 575 texts for just £30 a month, with 9 months free line rental with Orange.

It was hard finding one with a minimum 500txts, but amazed at 3rd party retailers giving such good deals with Orange direct giving hardly anything.
