At my work (managed services company) we use a product called Xymon (previously Hobbit and before that BigBrother). I am looking for an alternative that is more easy to maintain / configure. Plus points of Xymon:
Uses push communication to talk back to main server so no configuration needed at individual sites.
Client runs on Linux, Windows, VMware, Hyper-V Core.
Custom monitor types can be configured, e.g. on exchange servers we monitor and trend database size.
Lightweight footprint.
I really need something which does the above but preferably with a bit more reporting ability with VMware (really struggled to get this to report failed disks etc). I am also looking for something a lot easier to configure, to get the exchange database size checks working means a lot of faffing about with powershell and scheduled tasks and each further customisation brings new issues. Does anyone have any recommendations?
