Free network messenger

Quickest method I can think of is.

Build small application that writes to a text file or database in a shared location. Have the application look for changes and then load the changes into said textbox. Kinda dirty but it should do the trick.

Might have trouble using a database in a networked location though so will probably have to be text file based.

Network admins probably blocked then. Net send is disabled in SP2 by default so that is a no go.

If its for support then why not use remote assistance? That has a chat facility built in and you can also take control of the pc if needed?

its litterally going to be used between us on the servicedesk. We already have a remote support application

I think Netmeet supports chat, if you have an exchange server you could also try and get them to install Windows Exchange Messenger (essentially MSN but internal over the exchange server only).

We set up a jabber server for the same purpose. There's also a range of clients across all platforms for it (We use Spark on our Windows machines, the Mac people use iChat).
