Free Online Backup Software (to host)

    I have a couple (5) family laptops with just pics and basic info which i dont want to use dropbox and am looking to see if something is out there like own cloud where i could set up a schedule backup every day for t hem to back up to a vm i would create, the laptops are Windows 10 but the server would be linux. anything out there like this?

    Setup your own cloud, OwnCloud I think still going, or you could setup some scheduled rsync task?

    Just get a nextcloud server installed, nextcloud client onto all devices, and it will sync them back to the server. Then if you're really doing backups, you will plug a USB disk in at the weekend, have an rsync job to copy the data directory of nextcloud to USB, and then store the backup somewhere safe. Encrypt the usb disk too, if you are comfortable doing so.
